We hope you are having a wonderful summer.

Here we are at the end of your first year! Congratulations. We hope you have had time to reflect on everything you have achieved this year.

So, what happens next? You are scheduled to receive your first year results on Thursday 23rd July and I wanted to explain how this works, as for most of you it will be the first time you will have experienced this in a Higher Education institution.

You will receive an email from the central communications team sometime prior to 23rd July that includes a link to the results portal and how to access it. This is the only place you can see your live results, and this will only be available for four weeks (please therefore take a screenshot and save a copy of your results).

On results day when you click on the link, at the top it will give you your ‘Board Decision’ and further guidance will be provided on what the results means. There is also further guidance via this link:  Results: What to do next | Manchester Metropolitan University.

What those decisions mean

  • If you have passed, congratulations, see you in September!
  • If you received a resit/deferral decision it will specify which individual module assessment(s) you are required to submit in the summer reassessment period. You will need to access Moodle for more guidance for each module.
  • If you received notification of a repeat year (with or without attendance), you will receive a communication from our Undergraduate Programme Support Tutor by the end of July, detailing what you need to do next.
  • If you receive a ‘Fail, no further opportunity’, you have the right to lodge an appeal to that decision should you want to. This has to be done through the Student Union, not through department staff.

Guidance on resits and support available

  • Level 4 (this is you!) must achieve an average of 40% across all modules (including any failed modules) and achieve pass marks in at least 90 credits to progress to Level 5 study. Your results will clearly state whether you have achieved this.
  • Reassessment support period: Monday 27th July – Friday 31st July.
  • There will be support from Personal Tutors, and each Module Leader will provide resit support. Guidance and information on the support available for each module will be available on the relevant Moodle page from results day.
  • Reassessment assignment submissions are due on Monday 3rd August. Some exams may sit up to Friday 7th August. Students need to check relevant Moodle pages for further information.
  • Reassessment results: Monday 21st September.

If you have any questions on results day then you need to contact the Student Hub, who have a team in place to support.

Best wishes,

Karen Ellis
