This summer I have officially completed the Barcelona 2026 Summer School programme at CETT_UB Tourism & Hospitality, Education/Research !

Going into this experience without knowing anyone, it’s fair to say I was a little nervous. Looking back now, I’m incredibly grateful that I took the opportunity and pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the chance to learn from inspiring lecturers and explore some of the latest developments in AI. From understanding how AI can be used to its full potential, to building websites and exploring the capabilities of AI agents, the programme provided valuable insights into the future of technology. 💡
Alongside the academic experience, I also had the opportunity to immerse myself in the incredible city of Barcelona. The history, culture, architecture, and atmosphere made every day an adventure. 🌇✨
Some of my highlights included:
🚶♂️ Walking tours around the city
🎓 Insightful guest lectures and workshops
🏙️ Visiting Torre Glòries
🚠 Taking the cable cars across Barcelona
🏖️ Spending time at the beach
What started as a nerve-wracking experience quickly became one of the most rewarding opportunities I’ve had. I’ve gained new knowledge, new perspectives, and most importantly, met some fantastic people along the way.
Then…
Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend Go Global x Italy!

As the first international trip to Italy organised by the MIBT department to be guests of UniMore university, it was an honour to be selected and take part in such a unique experience. 🌍
Our journey began in Bologna, where we completed a “no-phone” cultural self-guided tour. This encouraged us to fully immerse ourselves in the city’s rich history and architecture while visiting iconic landmarks including Little Venice, the Two Towers, and the Cathedral of St. Peter.
The following day, we visited Parco Innovazione Reggine in Reggio Emilia. It was fascinating to see how former industrial warehouses have been transformed into innovative spaces that support education, research, and entrepreneurship, while preserving the area’s industrial heritage. 💡🏭
We also had the opportunity to visit UniMore (the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), one of Italy’s oldest universities, founded in 1175. With over 20,000 students, it was fascinating to learn more about the Italian higher education system and experience university life from an international perspective. 🎓🌍
We were also fortunate enough to witness part of the famous Mille Miglia, often described as “the most beautiful race in the world.” This historic 1,000-mile classic car race passes through more than 200 towns across Italy and was an unforgettable experience to see in person. 🚗✨
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Max Mara Headquarters. As a family-owned business founded in 1951, Max Mara has grown into one of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses and a pioneer of modern ready-to-wear fashion. Hearing directly from the leadership team about the company’s heritage, values, and long-term vision was truly inspiring. 👔🌟
Following our visit, we explored the Collezione Maramotti, Max Mara’s contemporary art collection and museum. The gallery showcases works from emerging and established artists through rotating exhibitions and special projects. It was an incredible space that combined creativity, culture, and innovation, and one that I could easily have spent hours exploring. 🎨🖼️
This experience provided valuable insights into international business, innovation, entrepreneurship, fashion, and culture. More importantly, it reinforced the value of stepping outside your comfort zone, embracing new perspectives, and learning through real-world experiences. 📚🌍
A huge thank you to Vera Baker FCIM SFHEA and Stefano Ghinoi for their guidance and support throughout the trip. 🙌
I would also like to thank Riccardo De Vita and Dr Konstantia (Dina) Litsiou for organising such a memorable and impactful experience. 👏
Experiences like these remind me how valuable international exposure can be, not only for academic development but also for personal and professional growth. I’m excited to apply the knowledge and insights gained throughout my studies and future career. 🚀
