🎯 Skill Spotlight: Fewer applications, better results

It can be tempting to apply for as many roles as possible, but more applications does not always mean better results. In fact, sending lots of generic applications is one of the most common reasons students don’t progress to the next stage.

A more effective approach is to focus on targeted applications. Choose roles that genuinely match your interests and skills, then spend time adding examples and evidence to your CV, cover letter and answers to show why you are a strong fit. Employers can quickly tell when an application has been carefully prepared versus rushed.

Taking the time to do fewer, higher quality applications will give you a much better chance of success. Focus on roles that feel right for you, put in the effort to tailor each one, and you are far more likely to stand out and move forward in the process. Employers are reporting more evidence of AI in applications which can lead to good applicants being sidelined – please use AI as a support for ideas or for checking your applications, rather than to write your, cover letter or statements for you.
