The Department of Marketing, International Business and Tourism (MIBT) recently hosted Native Creatives, a dynamic one-day event celebrating the Creative, Digital and Media industries across Greater Manchester.

Organised in partnership with the Manchester Publicity Association (MPA), the event gave MIBT students and young people from across the region a first-hand insight into what it’s really like to build a career in the creative industries.

Featuring dedicated zones focused on Creative and Advertising, Media, Animation and Gaming, PR & Social, Digital, TV and Film, Video and Content, attendees took part in exclusive Q&A sessions with industry leaders and enjoyed valuable networking opportunities.

David Colley, Senior Lecturer and Co-organiser, said:

“Our partnership with the MPA and collaboration on the Native Creatives event reflects our commitment to connecting students with real-world opportunities in the creative industries. Hosting this event at Manchester Met Business School creates a space where aspiring professionals can learn, network, and gain insights from industry leaders – an invaluable experience for shaping their future careers.”

Industry experts from organisations including Boardwalk Studio, Carat, Apadmi, DC, McCann, Wavemaker, Screen Manchester, Pixel and Roland Dransfield shared their expertise and advice with over three hundred students across two sold-out sessions.

Cindy Simmons Managing Director of the MPA said: “the next generation of talent is an important area that the MPA nurtures and is always happy to help young upcoming talent understand more about the industry and the incredible range of opportunities available. Native Creatives demonstrates just how diverse the roles in the Creative Digital and Media industry are, and the skills and talent companies are seeking”.

This partnership between MIBT and the MPA offers unparalleled access to the creative industries for university students and regional sixth formers exploring degree pathways and careers in this vibrant sector. As one of the main sponsors, Clear Design and Marketing Agency played a key role in supporting the event and mentoring students.
