What did you enjoy most about Manchester Met?
I loved the location, being so close to the city centre was convenient. I loved the social aspect and made so many new friends throughout my time at university, who I still meet up with regularly since graduating. I also loved the business school facilities, it felt very modern and professional. I loved the flexibility of the timetable, it allowed me to continue working in marketing roles part-time throughout my studies, meaning I gained valuable industry experience.
What did you do after graduating?
I went into a full-time job as a digital marketing manager straight away. I took the unconventional route and came to university after completing an apprenticeship in digital marketing. This experience allowed me to easily find a job after graduating.
So…what are you doing now?
I’m still in my role as a digital marketing manager. I was contacted by a recruitment agency after applying for a few jobs on Indeed. They put me into this role, and I’ve enjoyed working here. I am also doing freelance work dominicdavison.co.uk
How did your course prepare you for your role?
My course allowed me to gain insight into academic theory whilst I was gaining practical knowledge from my part-time job. This meant many of the things I learned from my course I could quickly apply in the real world.
What advice would you give current students?
There are a couple of pieces of advice I’d give:
👉 If possible while studying, try and get some experience in the industry you want to get into. Whether it’s a placement year or a part-time job. This will give you a massive boost when looking for jobs after university. And you’ll gain valuable experience which you can apply to your studies and vice versa.
👉Prioritise self-care. University can be stressful with deadlines, finances, and exams. Make sure you look after your physical and mental health.
👉Don’t forget to enjoy yourself. University is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Make the most out of every moment and have fun.

Thanks Emma! Great to be featured 🙂
