Applications are now open for level 5 students to attend a GoGlobal: Spring School paid for by the Faculty of Business and Law
We value offering opportunities outside your standard programme of studies. We aim to provide an excellent student experience and ensure you build the transferable skills to succeed once you graduate from Manchester Met. This experience will be based in either Switzerland at The International Management Institute in Lucern or the Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai, India. We will send a group of students from the faculty, so you will travel and experience an international opportunity together. We will also be sending two staff members from the University with you. There will be shout outs in your lectures telling you more about the Spring Schools, which will include taught sessions, cultural visits, and industry visits.*
We have approximately 36 places to offer spread across the faculty. On each trip, we will evenly distribute places to the departments that are signed up for this experience, which will be awarded on merit. This opportunity is open to all level 5/ year two undergraduate students who are registered in November 2025, who are on a full programme with us (so not students visiting us for one or two semesters).
Travel dates:
TBA but on or around the following:
Switzerland Spring School – 3rd – 8th March 2026
India Spring School – 28th February – 7th March 2026
Note on costs:
Apart from a non-refundable deposit, we will cover the cost of the Spring School, return travel from the University and accommodation. You will be responsible for your food and drink and any social activities you organise yourself.
Requirements to apply:
- Have a minimum of 60% average GPA from Level 4 (first year)
- Have a good attendance record in Level 4 – we are looking for minimum 65%
- Priority will be awarded first to those students who engaged in GoGlobal week 6 in March 2025.
Additional Information
- 50% of the places will be prioritised for students on the student welfare package.
- *Level 5 is year 2 undergraduate (note you have to be a permanent student not a visiting student to be able to apply)
- If you are selected, pay a non-refundable deposit to show you are serious (£100) and complete an additional survey to collect the required passport information etc.
- For students receiving financial support from the university, if the deposit is a problem, please contact ggsmf@mmu.ac.uk for information on our GoGlobal Student Mobility Fund.
- It is expected that the demand for places will be competitive, therefore students can only apply for one Spring school from the experiences offered.
- You will have a valid passport at the time of travelling, and if you require a visa to travel, you must be able to obtain this also. N.B all UK passport holders will be required to obtain a visa for the India trip. E-visa cost is currently US$25. We will show you the link to apply.
- If you are selected, you will need to attend a 50-minute online sustainability course to understand how you can offset carbon emissions from this trip. This will be conducted prior to travel being booked. You will be expected to make a pledge to evidence how you will offset the emission related to this trip.
- All students selected will be asked to complete a post-trip survey for quality purposes.
Deadline for applications: 10th November 2025. You will be notified by the end of the day on 17th November 2025, whether you have been successful or not.
Other information: Accommodation will be two students sharing a room with the same gender.
The Faculty will only pay for one GoGlobal visit overseas per student for the duration of their programme, although there are exceptions, such as case competitions and rewards.
