An exciting opportunity is coming up for Level 5 students.  The American University in Cairo is a very prestigious university, and some of their students are visiting Manchester Met in April, and we will be taking students on a return visit to Cairo in June.  The university will cover all costs of flights, accommodation, visas, and meals.   We will also arrange extensions for any exams or assignments that are falling due in this period.   Would you like to be involved?

We can only take 5 students from MIBT and 5 students from SES, so numbers are very limited, and therefore, we can only take the most dedicated and committed students.   In order to be eligible:

  • Students will need to engage in person in a programme of activities at Manchester Met from 22-25 April inclusive.   This is a non-teaching week over the Easter break, and therefore, you will need to be able to commit to being present and actively engaged when, perhaps, you were expecting to be away from the university.
  • Students will need to be free from Saturday, June 21, to Friday, June 27, inclusive. These are the dates of our Cairo visit, and they are non-movable.
  • Students will need to be committed to fully engaging in a work programme while you are there, although there will be some free time and some social activities planned, including sightseeing.
  • Students must have an eligible passport with at least 6 months left to run beyond 27 June.
  • Priority will be given to students who have not previously travelled internationally while at MMU.

If you wish to be considered for the opportunity, please email Mark and Dina (m.crowder@mmu.ac.uk and k.litsiou@mmu.ac.uk) with the following details:

  • Your name, student ID number, and your programme of study.
  • A statement confirming that you will fully engage with all aspects of the programme
  • A 300-word (max) summary of why you are interested in this opportunity and how it will benefit you in your future career

The deadline for this email is 5 pm on Friday, 28th March.

We will contact interested students and run an information session via Teams where we can explain the programme in more detail and answer any questions you may have.

Depending on the number of applications, there will likely be an interview stage following the information session, from which we will select the students who will participate.

We look forward to hearing from you.
