On Friday 03 February, Level 6 International Business Management students had the opportunity to meet their predecessors at a special alumni event.
Former MIBT students, who embarked on careers in international business, shared their experiences, knowledge and advice with current Level 6 students. The alumni represented a diverse range of specialisms and companies:
- Khathijah Anwar – Compliance Analyst at IQ-EQ
- James Brito Alvarado – Integration Technical Specialist at IBM
- Jonathan Foster – Global Learning and Development Programme Manager at Microsoft
- Lauren Maguire – Business Consultant at IBM
- Olaniran Olatunbosun – Data and Systems Project Manager at BP

Students and alumni took part in a series of roundtable discussions, with each focusing on a particular theme, including career pathways, cultural intelligence, networking strategies, and sustainability. This allowed students to garner a taste of how international business management translated from undergraduate study into the world of work, and how the knowledge and skills they have developed across their degrees will be utilised and valued within employment.

Students were also given a guest talk by Careers Adviser Angela Partridge who reinforced how Manchester Met’s careers service can help undergraduates as they prepare to embark on the career journey that awaits them after graduation.

The range of alumni experiences and advice at the event allowed students to gain a wealth of knowledge and tips from former students, helping prepare them for their next steps as they begin their next international business management adventure.
