Programme & Project Coordinator – Supply Chain and International Business Management student

It feels like just yesterday that I began my placement at Primark as a Programme & Project Coordinator within Supply Chain.

Over the past six months, I’ve had an incredible opportunity to gain real-world experience in portfolio, programme, and project management within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. I’ve also gained valuable insight into how our projects impact the broader business.

Some of my key highlights of my journey so far include:
✅ Deepening my understanding of governance processes: I am learning how to ensure programmes and projects are effectively managed to align with and achieve the strategic goals of the business.

✅ Developing essential skills: By leading my own work, I’ve honed my stakeholder management, leadership, adaptability, and communication skills—empowering me to navigate challenges effectively and deliver impactful work.

✅ Strengthening collaboration and decision-making skills: Collaborating with incredible teams across Supply Chain, as well as other areas such as Lean Portfolio, Technology, Finance, and P&C, has enabled me to refine my skills in collaboration, conflict resolution, decision-making, and change management. This experience has given me a deeper understanding of their needs and the significant impact their work has on our projects

✅ Experiencing Supply Chain innovation: Witnessing Primark’s investments in Supply Chain, from implementing new technologies to developing automated and manual depots. I was fortunate to visit project sites in Kildare, Ireland, and Roosendaal, Netherlands, gaining first-hand insights into these exciting developments.

I am truly grateful for the knowledge and insights I’ve gained, from my team and the amazing colleagues I collaborate with daily across different areas of the business.

The Early Careers Team at Primark has provided fantastic support through regular check-ins on progress and opportunities for continuous personal and professional development. A recent highlight was an engaging workshop on personality types, where I discovered more about my own traits, how they influence interactions, and how to better connect with others.

I am really looking forward to see what the next six months has in store!
