From Manchester Met to the world of work

In April 2024, I decided to pursue a career in SEO. With only a basic understanding and some prior experience in Digital Marketing, the journey wasn’t easy. However, completing an SEO course at Manchester Met gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed to take the first step.
From there, I prioritised connecting with professionals in the SEO industry and learning from their insights. The reality, however, set in when I started applying for SEO roles—most required at least two years of specialised experience. Despite having over four years of experience in Digital Marketing, the lack of an SEO specialisation became a significant hurdle.
Balancing the process of preparing for multiple interviews, completing various tasks, and constantly researching SEO while working two jobs simultaneously was challenging. But each rejection became a stepping stone, motivating me to learn, adapt, and grow. Today, I’m overjoyed to share that I’ve secured my first full time SEO role at WhitworthSEO. 🥳

This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I’m eager to embrace this new chapter in my career. I’m excited to continue learning, contributing, and growing in the SEO field. I’m incredibly grateful to David Edmundson-Bird, who has been an amazing mentor, constantly encouraging and inspiring me to work harder.
My first day went amazingly well—thank you, Charlie Whitworth, for being so patient and supportive. The community manager even welcomed me with gifts and a heartfelt letter, which made the experience even more special.
Here’s to new beginnings! 🙌
