I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve just received the certificate for my master’s degree in Digital Marketing and Communication with distinction from Manchester Metropolitan University Business School!

This achievement feels particularly special, as it marked my return to Manchester Met 25 years since completing my BA (Hons) in Business Administration.

This experience has reinforced several important lessons:

Customer Loyalty Pays Off
Just as businesses benefit from nurturing long-term customer relationships, educational institutions thrive on alumni engagement. My positive experience 25 years ago led me back to Manchester Met, showcasing the value of building lasting connections. My only regret is not having returned sooner.

Persistence Yields Rewards

Despite the time gap, I never stopped believing in my ability to grow and learn. This mindset was crucial in pursuing past careers but succeeding in a completely different field.

Embracing Career Changes:
My journey demonstrates that careers aren’t necessarily for life. Mid-career changes should be viewed as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks. So many transferable skills… ! A growth mindset is key to adapting and thriving in new professional landscapes.

The Long Game in Education and Business
This experience has parallels in the business world. Just as educational institutions benefit from long-term student relationships, businesses thrive on customer loyalty that goes beyond quick returns. Building and maintaining these relationships requires consistent effort, but the rewards are substantial and a key in short and long customer journeys.

People buy from people; human interaction is key to customer longevity. It might have taken a long time to return here, but the countless people with whom I have shared my positive experiences along the way speak louder than the organisation’s marketing itself.

To my fellow professionals considering a career change or returning to education:
It’s never too late to pursue your passions and expand your skill set. Embrace the challenge, stay committed to growth, and remember that your diverse experiences are an asset, not a liability.

I’m grateful for this opportunity to have grown both personally and professionally.

Here’s to lifelong learning and the exciting journey ahead!

In the words of Journey…. “Don’t Stop Believing”!

Happy New Year 2025!!
