We are always looking for ideas to enhance your student experience and ensure that your voices and ideas are heard. Some students have mentioned they would like a departmental society – this would be great to gather feedback, run social events and support each other. The Union at Man Met helps students set up societies and the Student Experience team would love to support this in any way we can – especially with getting the idea off the ground for the next academic year.
Starting a society is a great way to meet new likeminded people, create a community and gain skills and new experiences. You don’t need to have any special qualifications, just enthusiasm. You also don’t have to have been in a member or ran a society as part of a committee before. As long as you’re a current Marketing, International Business, Retail or Tourism Student and have an interest in planning and running activities for the society along with other students, you’ve got what it takes.
It’s a great way to develop your own personal leadership skills and demonstrate a passion for your subject (and it looks amazing on your CV).
If you are interested in learning more you can attend our session online on the 25 July or drop us a note, and we will be in touch.
