• Turn Up!

Attending lectures, seminars and tutorials will improve your results. Research shows strong links between good attendance and good educational outcomes – and gives you the valuable opportunity to develop relationships with peers and lecturers.

  • Sleep on it!

Sleep improves memory, cognitive function and focus – easy win right?  But we all know it is not that straightforward when a big assignment or exam is looming.  There are loads of strategies to try and boost your sleep quality but try starting with your bed. Making sure it is your relaxation haven rather than your desk or dining table will optimise it for better sleep.

  • Boost your skills!

Could your writing style use some work, what does your academic voice sound like, are you using statistics for the first time?  Becoming a critical thinker and writer is essential to achieving your potential.  Man Met have a fabulous Study Skills team who offer support one-one, short courses or online –this could really make the difference. • Research It!

Need help with referencing, want to use market research data or find a quiet place to write? – the Library is so much more than just a building with books and can offer you specialised expert advice and support.

  • Ask!

Everyone at Man Met wants you reach your potential.  If you need help with anything you can speak to your lecturer, Unit Leader or Personal Tutor.  The Student Life pages on the Man Met website can direct you to support services, practical information and tips, and the MRT blog has specific info for our department.
