Welcome to the last in the series of the MRT Induction Countdown 2021. This week focuses on preparing you for Induction next week and the first step of your new academic year.
Induction week begins next week from Monday 13th September 2021, days are dependent on your year of study (see below).
Induction Week dates for all levels;
Level 4 – Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September 2021
Level 5 – Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th September 2021
Level 6 – Thursday 16th and Friday 17th September 2021
Level 7 – Tuesday 14th to Thursday 16th September 2021
Your Induction sessions are extremely important where valuable information is shared and it sets your academic year off to a good start, so attendance is compulsory!
Please check your timetables for when the sessions are taking place.
Brunch Series
During September’s Welcome Week, your department would like to extend an invitation for you to join us Tuesday to Friday for events and speakers to help you get the most out of your university experience.
I give to you the MRT (Marketing, Retail & Tourism) Brunch Series
Tuesday 14th September 9:30am to 11am – Secret Manchester NetWalking
Join your lecturers from MRT in a 5km walk that will explore new and hidden parts of our glorious city and your new home for the next one, two or three years. It is also your chance to make new friends as we NetWALK and get some fantastic exercise early in the day. Book here
Wednesday 15th September 10am to 11am – Nutrition for Wellbeing
Be inspired by the team at MetMUnch and discover more about nutrition, and healthy, affordable ways you can eat to help increase your energy, your mood and improve your concentration. MetMUnch will break nutrition down in an easy to understand, fun and interactive session. You will walk away with a better understanding of how food affects your wellbeing, and some quick, easy nutritious meal ideas that taste delicious and which won’t break the bank. Book here
Thursday 16th September 10am to 11:30am – “How to be MORE of who you are” – Get ready to feel inspired and energised, as you wholeheartedly dive into your university life
Join Katy and Laura of The Vibrancy Hub, to learning why being your whole self – and being more of it – makes you interesting and unique. Learn how to show up in your personal power and how embracing your natural gifts will bring the right people, places and opportunities into your life. Katy and Laura will share their top tips for honing your true character so that you can become the most authentic, lit up and fulfilled version of YOU! Book here
Friday 17th September 10am to 11am – The Magic of Meditation
This session with Katy Brown of The Vibrancy Hub, will introduce you to what meditation and breathwork is (and isn’t) and why it is one of the most effective tools you have access to for reducing stress, building resilience and creating headspace – perfect for when those deadlines start to loom large.
Suitable for total beginners, you will learn top tips and tools on how to easily include more of this enjoyable and calming practice in your life. Katy will lead you through a guided mediation including intention setting prompts for getting the most out of your university experience and you will leave feeling uplifted and inspired, with skills and suggestion to take away and practice in your own time. These events are open to any MRT student at any stage in their university career, but there is limited capacity so you must book on to attend, sign up sooner rather than later.
Freshers Fair
Tuesday and Wednesday 14th & 15th September at Sugden Centre.
Fresher’s Fair is your chance to grab more freebies than you can carry, and find out what you can get involved with during your time at University. This includes Clubs and Societies.
Freshers Fair is hosted by The Union at Sugden Sports Centre and will be open for two days, so don’t fret you’ll have plenty of time to drop in.The fair will be open from 10:00am – 4:00pm each day.
