Welcome to Part 2 of Series 1 of the Induction Countdown 2021. Part 2 focuses on from how your course will be structured to how you can get ahead before term starts!
How Will My Course be Structured?
In September we will be continuing our block teaching approach. Your course is divided into units over a course of four blocks of seven weeks, six weeks of teaching followed by an assessment week at the end of each block (as can be seen in the images).
With block teaching, you will be studying one or two units at a time. Within each unit you will be in study groups with one of the unit tutors.

More specific information for your course can be found on the MRT Blog page https://manmetmrt.wordpress.com under your specific Programme area within the Welcome 2021 section.
You will receive specific details about your individual timetables as part of your enrolment or return in September.

Student Communications
Student communications from the MRT department will be through varying channels…

MRT department Blog page: The blog is a really valuable website with a variety of resources and opportunities. The Blog page will be updated on a regular basis throughout the academic year Visit: https://manmetmrt.wordpress.com/

Email: Check your MMU emails on a regular basis (we recommend you do this daily) for any important updates from Manchester Met and your tutors. Please make sure you set up a professional signature for your MMU email account i.e. name, course, level of study and student ID number and remember to update on an annual basis.

MS Teams: Another great communication channel where you can contact your tutors or vice versa through the MS Teams chat or through an online MS Teams video call.
Professionalism & Etiquette
You should remember that any interaction with University staff and other students is a professional one and that you should adhere to the same standards when attending either an on-campus or online session. You will be expected to attend timetabled sessions at all times! Where this is not possible you should contact your tutor to make them aware of this. You can also record your explained absence on the attendance portal through the MyMMU App.
Punctual
You should be punctual for sessions and should give your full attention. If you are late for any reason make your apologies and do not distract the session on entering the classroom.
Professional
You should adopt standards of professionalism, courtesy and respect to your tutors and other students, including approaches to communication within a session. Your contributions and presence during a session will enhance your learning experience and your likeliness to succeed. The standards applied include, for example, the amount of personal information you share, and the language you use.
Purposeful
You should contribute in a purposeful way, respecting and supporting your fellow students and playing a full part in the learning community. Whilst also undertaking work on your own, try to contribute to social and collaborative learning experiences.
