I would like to take this opportunity to (re)introduce myself. I am Jenny Warburton, your Student Experience Officer for Marketing, Retail and Tourism (MRT) and I would like to say from all the staff within the department ‘we are looking forward to welcoming you’ if you are a new student or‘welcoming you back‘ if you are a returning student in September!
Whilst last year was a challenging one to say the least, our aim is to offer our students a full, on-campus university experience from September 2021. However, to ensure we can keep you and our wider community safe if we need to apply COVID-19 security measures, we have also prepared for different scenarios. The latest government guidance and University health and safety assessments will inform our approach to teaching and activity on campus.
Whilst I hope we will be able to offer you all an on-campus experience government guidance will lead the approach we take, however, no matter what, my commitment to your student experience remains. We have found new ways to adapt and learn and I very much look forward to providing you with opportunities to engage with your learning community, improve your employability skills and gain the most from your time in the department.
There are already activities planned for Induction Week (w/c 13th September), the Brunch Series (more details to come), and events planned in Block 1, so please take some time to look around the blog https://manmetmrt.wordpress.com/ and engage in as much as possible.
What is my role and how can I help you?
- Organising guest lectures and events throughout the year
- Retention and student progression
- Recognising and rewarding students’ achievements
- Helping with student societies
- Promoting student voice, gathering feedback and actively working to improve student experience
If you have any ideas or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me via j.warburton@mmu.ac.uk
I look forward to getting to know you all more over the next academic year!
